Tinder couple Nicola and Nick had the perfect wintery Old Hollywood style wedding at historical manor house Fanhams Hall with the bride in a show stopping Amanda Wakeley dress. Perfect for a Winter Berry wedding we just had to share London-Bride’s wedding on TNWS Daily Love.
Is it wrong that I’m quite excited that this is the first couple to be featured on the blog who met on Tinder?Amazing to see how much has changed, even within the time since starting the blog as I would never have thought an app would bring people together for marriage back in 2009 when I started, but how wonderful that it is!
Nicola and Nick had such an elegant and decadent day Old Hollywood style day. The historical venue was the perfect backdrop to their elegant style and Nicola’s statement coloured red Amanda Wakeley Asayava Lipstick Gown looks incredible for their winter wedding celebrations.
APPY EVER AFTER
We met on Tinder and as I am a total romantic this was the last place I ever expected to find my future husband! Apparently on our first date Nick sent a message to his friends saying ‘I’ve met the future Mrs. Rogers’. We got engaged 9 months later! Nick proposed in the middle of Highgate Wood surrounded by trees, which are one of my favourite things in the world.
OSCAR WORTHY
Fanhams Hall just outside London in Herfordshire, was the 3rd venue we viewed and the two of us just knew immediately it was perfect. It is a converted Jacobean Manor House with beautiful original features, so there is a lovely sense of history and time past. We didn’t have a specific theme for our wedding but knew we wanted it to be very simple and elegant. The dress code was ‘Evening glamour/ dark suits’ and we said if anyone needed inspiration to think of the Oscars.
We decided to go for an intimate afternoon ceremony with just over 40 family and friends, followed by a few hours break and then another 100 guests came for a big evening party. The invitations we sent out asked our loved ones to ‘Join us to celebrate life & love’ and that’s exactly what we did – it was magical!
I absolutely love that sentiment, and perfect wording for an invitation!
RED DRESS + OLD HOLLYWOOD STYLE
As is becoming more common now amongst brides, Nicola wasn’t the ‘white dress’ kind. As someone who wears black all the time, she certainly stepped beyond her comfort zone with this show-stopping backless Old Hollywood red Amanda Wakeley Asayava Lipstick Gown (which happens to also come in a beautiful silver for other brides on the dress hunt!).
I always knew I didn’t want to wear a white wedding dress. For me it was a chance to get a beautiful evening gown and go for something colourful or with a stunning print design. I am known for always wearing black, so I knew that was a definite no no!
We’d put a side a whole girlie day to try on loads of frocks but in the end I was only in Harvey Nichols for about 5mins when I saw my dream dress. I was with my Mum, sister Sorcha and cousin Ciara and when I tried it on there was that lovely moment of butterflies and eyes welling up. We then had the rest of the day to drink bubbles and celebrate!
I think Nicola styled her dress to perfection, from the red lips, the 1920s style hair, the cascading bouquet of flowers and of course the stunning statement jewellery and hairpiece that sets the dress off beautifully.
The dress had a 1930s Old Hollywood feel about it, so that inspired the rest of my look and jewellery. I commissioned the talented Sarah Doran to create a headpiece and long back necklace, adapting a gorgeous vintage brooch my cousin had given me. Amanda Croke transformed my hair perfectly, listening to the style I wanted, as well as knowing how to adapt it to suit me. She was an absolute dream to work with and made the morning of my wedding so stress-free. My beautiful bridesmaids wore fabulous black gowns and my two very handsome nephews looked adorable in black tuxedos.
