A rainy wedding needn't be a washout

Rain on a wedding day can put a dampener on proceedings, but an industry publication has warned brides that it is the one thing that is out of their control.

Research by Alliance & Leicester found that good weather is the most important thing for couples planning their wedding day.

"First and foremost, you should remember that the wedding is about making a lifelong commitment to the one you love, not the weather," said Rachel Moschk, editor of Wedding Ideas magazine.

"And even if it does rain on your big day, it needn't be a washout."

Ms Moschk recommended buying some trendy Wellington boots to go with the bridal dress just in case and ensuring there are plenty of umbrellas for everybody, perhaps even in the wedding party colour scheme.

Bridesmaids need to be well-rehearsed in carrying the bridal train, she added, while standing on a white sheet for the photos can ensure the bottom of the dress does not get dirty.

Choose a wedding venue with beautiful indoor backdrops for the photographs and a covered area should the reception be held outside, she said.

However, should it be a total washout, Ms Moschk concluded that in Italy they have a traditional saying which translates to: "A wet bride is a lucky bride."ADNFCR-1185-ID-18733402-ADNFCR
