Asian weddings become more glamorous
The growing interest in Bollywood is helping to transform Asian weddings into flamboyant affairs, according to new figures.
Research conduced by Asian bridal magazine Viya concluded that the industry is responding quickly to strong demand for specialist Asian weddings services when it comes to couples planning the big day, reports BBC News.
Over the past year, the average spent on an Asian wedding in the UK has risen to over £30,000 and business is booming for those companies working in the sector. It is thought that the glamour of Bollywood celebrities' weddings are helping to encourage women to be more adventurous with their wedding ideas.
However, many people planning a trip down the aisle remain more concerned with having the perfect day than attempting to outdo their friends and family weddings by spending more, with many have strict budgets to stick to.
Fari Hussein, speaking to the BBC, explained that she recently got married and had been planning the nuptials since December.
Her father, Fazar, added: "We didn't have very lavish holidays, you know. We never smoke, never drink. We just live within our own means... and save the money."
