Brides prefer traditional wedding music

Brides still prefer to walk down the aisle to romantic music, it has emerged.

Speaking to the Times, Deborah Joseph, editor of Brides magazine, said: "Every bride imagines themselves walking up the aisle to a really romantic song, and as brides are getting older, women want to be in control of absolutely everything."

This sentiment was echoed by Alison Cathcart, superintendent registrar at Westminster Register Office, who told the publication that most couples opt for similar songs such as Mendelsshon's wedding march, although she added that she has heard people walk down the aisle to Johnny Cash's Walk the Line and Elvis's It's Now or Never.

A recent poll by Classic FM confirmed that Britain's brides prefer classical music on their big day, with Toccata from Symphony No 5 by Widor, Pachelbel's Canon in D and Handel's Arrival of the Queen of Sheba taking the top three spots.

Meanwhile, a newly-married couple are planning to celebrate their honeymoon in musical style by taking a trip to the Hebridean Celtic Festival in Stornoway.

The Scotsman reports that music lovers Catriona MacKenzie and Clinton White, of Dunfermline, have purchased tickets for ten members of their wedding party for the three-day event in July.
