Brides urged to donate wedding dresses to charity
Brides like to hang on to their wedding dress long after their big day has passed, it has emerged.
According to a poll conducted by Cancer Research, 60 per cent of brides keep their wedding dress, with seven per cent donating their gowns to charity and the same number customising the dress so that they can wear it again, reports Marie Claire.
The charity is now appealing to past brides to donate their dresses to its new campaign.
Any dresses received will be sold via eBay for charity, with a percentage of the profits going directly to Cancer Research.
TV actress Gaynor Faye has launched the campaign by donating the wedding dress that her character wore on Fat Friends.
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that one bride donated 20 unworn wedding dresses to a Cancer Research shop in Devon.
Staff speculated that the former owner must have disappointed a lot of men or owned a bridal shop as all the gowns had tags on.
