Nelly Furtado confirms summer marriage

Canadian singer Nelly Furtado recently announced her secret union to new husband Demacio Castellon, reports reveal.

The 29-year-old star revealed that she and fiance, Cuban sound engineer Demacio, tied the knot in July this year in a private wedding ceremony.

"We got married July 19th. I love it. It's a nice phase of my life," she told Entertainment Tonight.

She added: "I just feel kind of free and relaxed and more in tune with trying not to be so stressed out, trying to enjoy things a little more. I'm happy… I'm excited about the future."

The newlyweds got engaged in July 2007 after dating for around a year.

Nelly is mum to five-year-old daughter Nevis from a previous relationship with DJ Jasper Gahunia. The couple decided to part ways in 2005 after four years together.

The Grammy Award winner is of Portuguese descent and performs in both English and Portuguese.
