Swedish couples to tie the knot 'drive-thru style'

Couples in Sweden will be able to tie the knot in just seven minutes next month, reports Reuters.

The Church of Sweden has announced it will perform drive-in weddings at a car rally in Vasteras, as part of a move to make marriage more accessible for couples.

According to the scheme's initiator, priest Jerker Asterlund, 36 couples have applied to tie the knot in this way.

A gospel choir and a minister singing Elvis songs is to provide the music to the weddings, which will be performed by ten priests.

"We would like to make things simpler and more down to earth when people take the plunge and get married," said Father Asterlund. "This is not just for fun, but also a way for the Church of Sweden to take part in celebration and happiness and not just in crisis and catastrophes."

He added that they have put a large neon red sign on the road stating Get Married so that the couples will know where to go.

Last year, 500 couples tied the knot at Sweden's Stockholm-Arlanda Ariport, reports USA Today.ADNFCR-1185-ID-18662299-ADNFCR
