TIP 1: EVERYONE CAN LOOK AND FEEL AMAZING IN A BIKINI
You don’t need to change anything about yourself to look great in a bikini. You just need to find the right designer for you. Be demanding. Don’t settle for anything less.
TIP 2: BIKINI TOPS DON’T HAVE TO LOOK LIKE BRAS (UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO)
If you don’t fancy a bra-shaped bikini top, there are plenty of other wonderful alternatives out there. A triangle bikini can offer an amazing amount of support and structure if it is beautifully designed and consummately crafted.
TIP 3: MIX AND MATCH IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO
It’s no revelation that most of us aren’t the same dress size top and bottom. Why should bikinis be sold in same sized sets? Lingerie isn’t. If your swimwear designer doesn’t do mix and match sizes, find one that does.
TIP 4: SMALL, MEDIUM AND LARGE SIMPLY ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH
If your bikini top is really going to fit you, it has to be made in more sizes than small, medium and large. You wouldn’t settle for an approximate fit with your lingerie, so why accept that for your bikini? The better the fit, the more glamorous we look and the more confident we feel.
TIP 5: THERE ARE WONDERFUL ALTERNATIVES TO THE ONE-PIECE
Want a one-piece look, but with the benefits and options of a bikini? Throw a swimdress (a cross between a dress and a tankini which you can swim in) over your bikini and you have the best of both worlds. You can tan in your bikini, and then slip on the swimdress for water-sports or the beach bar. And it’s easier to put on and take off than a one-piece too!
TIP 6: BE DEMANDING ABOUT PANT STYLES
Some of us are high-waist fans, some love a tie-side (which is amazingly flattering by the way) and some prefer the look of a classic brief. We know what suits us and we want to be able to choose. It is so frustrating when we find the perfect bikini top and it only comes with one style of matching pant. Find a designer that offers options as a matter of course.
TIP 7: BUY SOMETHING YOU CAN MOVE IN
When we’re on holiday we love relaxing by the pool with a cocktail, but we also love trekking, snorkeling and adventuring of all kinds. Your swimwear should work for you whatever you do. Try moving around in your bikini before you buy it and see what happens. Choose a great design that makes you feel free to move.
TIP 8: THINK OF YOUR TAN LINES (IF YOU LIKE TO SUNBATHE)
Cutout pants, multiple strap tops, one-shoulder swimsuits can be fun and fashionable. But, if you like to sunbathe, think of your tan lines before you commit to one of these styles. At least swap these around on different days to even things out a bit. A classic triangle or bandeau is the best bet from a tanning perspective.
TIP 9: ONE SENSATIONAL BIKINI IS GREAT, BUT MORE IS BETTER!
You can always spot a beach or pool professional. They never go anywhere without at least two bikinis for any one day – one is worn while the other hangs on the umbrella drying in the sun. Change every time you have a swim, and you’ll always be at your most glamorous. Two looks in a day is great fun too!
TIP 10: ALWAYS CARRY YOUR SWIMWEAR HAND LUGGAGE
A friend once told me this, and it was such good advice that I haven’t done anything else since. We all put a lot of effort into finding the right bikini. Don’t risk losing it if your luggage gets delayed or goes astray. With
