Bridal Boutique 2016 key trends

We caught up with exhibitor Charlotte Thompson Bridal Boutique who exhibited at our Birmingham show this Autumn to find her views on bridal boutique trends for 2016.

“Looking ahead to the 2016 bridal collections…… For this year we see some key trends with lace still being at the forefront of choices but we see plain and simple coming in to its own for this coming year. Whilst choosing dresses I always go for classic shapes and dresses that are timeless. Having been it the industry for over 5 years I think I have a good idea of the needs for brides and flattering shapes. These key shapes don’t change too much but how we embellish and style them does. Mikado and zibeline are key fabrics for this year with structure and clean lines as well as floaty crepes and slipper satins. Sparkle is understated and contemporary for the couture designers, less is always more!

This dress is one of our Suzanne Neville dresses new for this year and we love how flattering the shape is but also the quality and craftsmanship is second to none. The simpler the dress, the higher the quality sew. There is no hiding a seam slightly out on this material and Suzanne never falters!

This one also has a beautifully cut shape and falls over the hips gracefully, adding a glamorous neckline with beaded detail on the bodice.

Belts are a must for most of my brides this a fabulous way of drawing the eye to the waist  but also to add a bit of sparkle to your look.

Bespoke dresses are also a big way forward for us as we are finding that brides want something different and unique. Our gorgeous bride Kelly married this year, trying on lots of dresses she just couldn’t find the combination of necklines and fabrics that she liked. We made her the dress she wanted as she was speechless!
