Charmingly Mismatched: How to style your wedding with mismatched furniture so it does not look too messy

One thing you can guarantee at a wedding is that your guests will need somewhere to sit! And if your venue doesn’t supply chairs then they will be a necessary expense which you will have to budget for.

There are lots of event chairs available for hire, but an up and coming trend are mismatched chairs. Couples are opting for a more natural and relaxed feel for their furniture helping to make their guests feel more comfortable, adding that extra charm to their wedding. Standing out and being something different from the rest!

At Purple Door Props we have over 300 mismatched chairs available for hire and three different ranges:

You can hand pick and select the colours you like to suit your day but there are a few ways to style your mismatched chairs so they look delightfully random and not just a mess.

Similar Shades and Colours

You can bring the colours of your wedding through to your furniture, not just with the flowers and other decorations. At Purple Door Props, we have a wide range of colours that are sure to suit your pallet. By using similar tones the chairs blend together well even though they are all different.

We also have a selection of wooden chairs that have been left in their natural state, some upholstered in fresh new fabrics. These mismatched wooden chairs work well all together, they add that smart yet comfortably homely feel to any wedding. They can really add that extra romantic feel to any ceremony setup or in a different setting, like a barn, they generate that delightful farmhouse kitchen atmosphere.

Colour Pop!

If you have a certain colour you are using within your flowers for example, why not bring it in to the furniture too. By using the majority of chairs as a neutral colour then adding a pop of another colour to generate some interest! Or you could choose two striking colours that complement each other. You could group these sets of colours also, each row, or each table.

All Different

If you’re having a colourful Festival style wedding then why not go all out and have an eclectic mix of chairs. These certainly become a feature and really add to the fun vibe of the day. Be sure to pick out the colours elsewhere though so it does all blend together.

Chairs for certain guests and Bride and Groom Chairs

The beauty about having mismatched chairs at a wedding is that you can select certain chairs for certain guests. How about having a few bright ones for the children! And Purple Door Props have a selection of more sturdy and comfortable chairs with arms for your elderly guests. You can make sure everyone is happy! The Bride and Groom can pick which chair they would like, perhaps something a little more grand?
