How to get the most out of a wedding show

Attending a wedding fair should be a productive and fun day out; a chance to meet great vendors, gather fresh ideas and get even more excited about your wedding planning. With hundreds of exhibitors, The National Wedding Show is a one of the biggest wedding fairs in the North of England, attracting thousands of visitors, but those figures need not fill you with dread. With a simple plan of action you can get the most out of your visit to a wedding fair if you follow these easy steps:

Find the right companion

Whether you choose your mum, your partner or a bridesmaid, make sure that you choose someone who is as enthusiastic about your wedding as you are and, preferably, someone whose opinion you can trust. As a thank you, you could even treat them to a VIP experience at the show, with exclusive access to the VIP Lounge, a complimentary drink and a goodie bag all thrown in.

Charge your phone

Trust me on this, your phone is your best friend. Use it to refer to your Pinterest boards, take photos of displays, or simply to make notes.

Know who you want to see

It’s always good to know just whose stands it is that you really want to visit. You can browse the exhibitor list online beforehand, or find the list in the show guide when you arrive. Take the time to sit down and work out who you really want to see and make a bee line for them first. Alternatively, use that time to plan which catwalk shows and workshops you want to attend and plan your day around them.

Wear comfy clothes

You’ll be doing a lot of walking, so wear comfy shoes. Also, if you’re going to take advantage of the largest selection of bridal dresses under one roof, then wear an outfit that you can easily get on and off. Your favourite button-down dress may look amazing on you, but it’ll become very tiresome after the second outfit change, believe me!

Go with an open mind

Finally, go with an open mind. Yes, your Pinterest boards may be brimming with all your wedding ideas, but be prepared to see a whole lot more. You never know, the dress that you would never have looked twice at on the hanger, might turn out to be ‘the one’, or that craft workshop might inspire you to rediscover your creative side. Relax, have fun and enjoy it.
