Attend some wedding fairs. Grab your bridesmaids and get yourself to some local or national shows. A great way to indulge in all things weddings, meet a range of suppliers and brain storm for inspirational wedding ideas. Of course, our personal fave has to be a VIP ticket to The National Wedding Show!

Set up a wedding email. If you give your personal email to your suppliers, you may find yourself bombarded with emails not only during the planning process, but also by post-wedding marketing mail. The bane of our lives! Creating a wedding related email address is a great way to keep all the wedmin in one place and is a good point of contact for your suppliers and guests.

Shop around. You may fall in love with the first photographer you talk to, but we recommend shopping around for a few different quotes and ideas before you pay a deposit. You don’t want to book a supplier impulsively and then regret your decision. A good way to browse wedding suppliers is using an online wedding directory where you can search for specific suppliers in your area. After shortlisting a few, you can then request quotes to start comparing.

Remain calm and enjoy it. Make the most of your wedding planning and savour every moment of the buzz of getting married. Although the planning process can get stressful at times, try to relax by having some therapeutic fun on Pinterest or reading some inspiring wedding blogs. This is the most important day of your life – from the planning to the day itself, enjoy every minute!

Created by Alison Hargreaves, a bride-to-be and the owner of a wedding cake company who was frustrated with how difficult she found it looking for wedding companies, Guides for Brides originally launched as a locally printed wedding guide, listing every local wedding business. Now one of the UK’s leading online Wedding Directory with over 80,000 businesses on their books, head to Stand C51 where you can find Guides for Brides at our Birmingham show.
