The importance of being photographed

In Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Importance of being Earnest’ he quotes: “To be natural is such a very difficult pose to keep up.” And indeed on a wedding day no matter how happy or relaxed couples, their family and friends may be, the work of the photographer is vital.

Wedding photography is a key part of any wedding, but it is even more important if you wed overseas, because not everyone will be able to attend. Making sure your wedding photography is special and magical is something that specialist wedding tour operator Planet Holidays & Weddings takes great pride in providing for all couples. Mathilde Robert, managing director commented “photos are part of any couples lasting memories – for them as a couple but also for their family and friends for years to come!”

Photographs can range from romantic and natural, comical and cheeky, even the latest trend of ‘Editorial/Fashion Based Styling’ can be arranged. This isn’t necessarily a new trend, however, we’ve seen an increase in requests for highly stylised formal group photos, a task that takes quite a bit of time to produce but ends up being a favourite for those involved. Gathering family members and bridal party to create a large editorial like group photo becomes the most shared amongst the entire wedding album because of how stylish and grand they are, and because they feature the most important people from the day – all together.

Planet Holidays & Weddings make time to ensure that all requests for key suppliers are not only of the highest quality, but also easily booked and co-ordinated for the couple, to take the stress out of the big day. Mathilde and her team here in UK and abroad have forged special relationships with local photographers in each one of the resorts they feature. All of the bride and grooms special requests are taken into consideration, with advice given to ensure that the end result meets and exceeds expectations. Each photographer works alongside the wedding co-ordinator to ensure that most ‘natural’ of photographs are taken and yet at the same time, that there is plenty of ‘wedding wow’ factor too.

If planning a wedding abroad, Planet Holidays & Weddings work with local photographers that know the resorts, the venues and hotels inside out, they work there day in day out and have done so for many years. They speak perfect English but they can also communicate in the local language with the marriage officers and hotel staff. They know when a tree is in bloom, when the light is at its best and they will never leave until they have checked they have taken every photo couples have requested – from traditional family shots to quirky group shots, not least that all-important ‘first kiss’ as Mr & Mrs.
