The Wedding Edit- Find Your Wild in The Great Outdoors

The Great Outdoors_2

Always pictured saying the big “I do’s” whilst feeling at one with the nature? We don’t blame you – on this month’s Wedding Edit we are all about bringing the indoors out, with outdoor wedding ideas that are bang on trend for 2016. Outdoor weddings can provide all-out romance, often with a stunning backdrop to your day courtesy of mother nature, and  even better can help save money if you have time to bring a bit of DIY to the table.  See our quick tips on how you can become the Adam and Eve of your special day with The National Wedding Shows (nudity is of course optional).

Venue

Whether you’re going for formal or casual, tents come in all shapes, sizes and materials and work perfectly for an outdoor setting for your big day.  See the likes of Event in a Tent and don’t forget to equip your space for the good old British wedding. For a summer wedding, make sure fans and portable air conditioning units are in ample supplies. On the flip side keep guests warm in chillier months with tall patio or propane heaters. You may also want to add floor surfaces (to correct uneven ground) and wall panels (to protect against wind or rain).

Stationery

You’ve probably heard it before but it really is true: Your invites set the tone for your wedding and it sets the expectations as well. If you’ve chosen a venue, barn, tipi or country setting that lends itself the rustic theme then the designs from Quints of Jersey will be just for you!

Props

Use flowers and lights to create a simple but gorgeous makeshift aisle, Amie Bone flowers have stunning arrangements and ideas on how to really incorporate blooms into your theme. Other quick tricks and tips to give an instant rustic feeling to your wedding day include chalkboard paint picture frames, trees wrapped with string lights and photographs to display memories, or bring some wildlife statue’s along from Potcakes! Camera happy guests? Just a photo frame dangling from ribbons off of a tree can serve as a cheap and oh so boho booth to please the Snapchat Selfie bridesmaids. Why not get crafty and design your own wooden hanging crafts with Artcuts who will be doing DIY Wedding Workshops at The National Wedding Show?

Cakes

The age old saying, “Less is more” definitely refers to this wedding cake trend:THE NAKED CAKE and no, you don’t have to shy away at the sound of this not so naughty pud (unless you did opt for the Adam and Eve outfits). This is one part of your day where it’s totally acceptable and on trend to ditch the fancies. The traditional wedding cake is usually frosted with icing, but the naked cake is leaning more towards the idea that it’s on the inside what really matters! Let the season influence the flavour by adding fresh fruit or drizzles of preserves on top; we love the tasty naked treats from Genuine Cakes.

Feeling inspired? Make sure you head to The National Wedding Show this Autumn to shop the trend. Book your tickets here.
